This tour introduces you the culture of Edo and Tokyo to your heart’s content. Edo is the old name of Tokyo and was the seat for Tokugawa shogunate from the early 17th century to the middle of the 19th century. This period is called Edo era, when people enjoyed peaceful society under the rule of Shogun, and many traditional cultures unique to Japan blossomed. Those cultures are still alive in various forms. You’ll visit Ryogoku and Akihabara, symbolic two towns represent culture of the past and present in Tokyo. Let’s go exploring the culture in Tokyo!

Visit an exclusive museum in Ryogoku and be a connoisseur of Edo culture
First, visit Ryogoku, where Sumo tournament hall is located. This town exudes an atmosphere of old Edo. By exploring Ryogoku, you can be an “ Expert of Edo culture”.
Ryogoku offers excellent museums that introduce you the history and traditional culture of Tokyo and Japan.

The best museum to learn about the history and culture of Edo and Tokyo. You’ll experience and discover the change of the townscape and people’s lives throughout the time, through the exhibitions such as elaborate models. Your guide will give you an effective tour of the museum introducing the interesting episodes. Museum shop offers wide variety of attractive goods, that may make a good souvenir.
The Japanese Sword Museum
Japanese sword is very popular all over the world. This museum exhibits swords, fittings, all art works related to swords, as well as the material for swords and making process.
Your guide explains how to appreciate the beauty and attraction of Japanese swords, how such beautiful objects were created, and how the special steel for swords is produced.
As the museum is located next to Old Yasuda Japanese landscape Garden, you’ll enjoy strolling the garden on the way, that adds some attraction to the visit to the museum.
Sumida Hokusai Museum
This museum introduces a world- famous ukiyo-e artist, Katsushika Hokusai, his life, and works of him and his apprentices. Hokusai lived in the late Edo era(1760–1849). Here, you’ll also learn the materials and techniques necessary for ukiyo-e, and big impact ukiyo-e made on Western art and culture. Anecdotes about Hokusai will surprise you!
The museum building was designed by a world-known architecture, Kazuyo Sejima.

After Ryogoku, you will visit Akihabara which locates only 2 stations from Ryogoku.
Come to Akihabara, and be an expert in Japan’s traditional and pop culture
Step out of Akihabara station, and you’ll find yourself in the middle of AKIBA, world- known electric town, town of hobby and pop culture. Surrounded by signboards and banners full of characters of anime and games, you will feel, “ Yes, I am in AKIBA”. Akihabara, an otaku’s mecca, also is a town of craftsman spirit, where you will discover the history and culture of Japan. Let’s explore AKIBA, a town of wonder!
You will visit some historic sites and shops where you’ll see culture and things unique to Akihabara, such as: pop culture (figurines, toy capsules, maid café, costume play goods), hobby shops ( railroad diorama, plastic models etc.), electronics shops( PC, parts) and Akiba business ( rental show cases, hot-pot dish vending machine ).
It’s a big surprise and joy to discover “Japan” through AKIBA, the town never stops changing. If you like, let’s stop at a maid café for a break. (Additional expense)

1.Tour price includes :
train fare in Tokyo, admission fee for one museum (permanent exhibition only)
2.There is no tour on the day museums are closed (Monday or Tuesday if Monday falls on to a national holiday).
3.Please choose one museum out of three (Edo-Tokyo Museum, The Japanese Sword Museum, The Sumida Hokusai Museum) and indicate one in the comment section. There is no difference on tour price for any of these museums. The tour includes permanent exhibition only.
4.If you want to visit more than 1 museums or to see special exhibition, please indicate so in the comment section. The additional admission fee will be collected on the day of tour. If this is the case, the time to stay in Akihabara will be shortened.
5.This tour uses public transportations and you are supposed to walk long distance. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes to move around in.
6.Depending on your conditions, the guide will offer short breaks occasionally, and may suggest some change of the itinerary. (No refund for the change).
7.The tour will be canceled if the guests did not show up for more than 30 minutes from meeting time without notice (No refund).
8.Tour will finish on time as scheduled without completing the itinerary, if the guests were late to the meeting time and/or any other reasons due to the guests caused delay on tour time. However the tour can be extended to complete the itinerary per request. The additional charge will be applied for extension (1000 yen per 30mins).
9.Lunch is not included. The tourist guide will take you to a dining place. If you have any food requirements because of your religions, health, or other reasons, please inform us in advance.

Person falls under any of the following conditions will not be allowed to participate to the tour. Please confirm each condition listed below.
①Person who traveled overseas within 14 days of the tour day, or had close contact with someone who returned from other countries within 14 days of the tour day.
②Person who had one of the following symptoms within 14 days of the tour day: fever, cough, taste disorders.
③Person with any of the following symptoms :
Have a temperature of 37.5°C (99.5°F) or higher.
Have cold-like symptoms (fever, cough, sneeze, sore throat etc.)
Fatigue, or shortness of breath
Feel unwell or have concern on physical condition
